We began recording the Premium Pack in mid-March 2014, just after I learned my tongue cancer of 2012 had returned and there was a real possibility that succeeding treatment rounds might leave me unable to sing any of the dozen or so songs I'd written or co-written (to that point). We didn't think of it as "the Premium Pack" yet.
Then in May, the University of Maryland Medical Center decided they wanted to cut off half my tongue. Scott Gosnell on Twitter suggested I explore less chop-happy treatment at the University of Chicago. That seemed like a good idea, but expensive, particularly during a year in which hijinx had already ensued on many fronts.
So I did what people do nowadays and crowdfunded the logistics at
www.gofundme.com/8xuoyk. People have been generous. Chicago thought they could help, and they have, and now I knew what to do with these three recordings.
Now that donors have all had a chance to get their copies, I'm making the songs available to anyone interested. I hope you like them. I've got more!
